"48 Hours" Episodes That are Updated Episodes of Older Episodes

I am currently updating some of the series and episodes of "48 Hours". There are numerous instances of a "new" episode actually being an old episode which is updated with new information, and as such it is not (usually) classed as a repeat in listings. What is the correct approach with these episodes - are they to be classed as separate episodes? I will add that many of these "updated" episodes already have their own entry, sometimes with "(Update)" or with "(II)" in the title. Some of them don't however.

Hi @Scott_A_D -

To clarify regarding these "updated" episodes, do these episodes include new footage/content?  Can you provide some examples of what exactly is updated to these previous episodes?

They do usually contain some new footage. That's why I'm veering towards classing them as separate episodes, as they (mostly) already are by IMDB. 48 Hours seems to call them "encore episodes".

Hi @Scott_A_D -

Yes, if there is a new footage/content, then these would qualify as standalone episode titles, separate from the original episode.  Although rare, when episodes from a series share the same title, the two episodes should generally be distinguished by their sequence number (episode number). In the even more rare case where that information is not available, then a Roman numeral can be appended to the episode title: e.g., Title (I).

I hope this helps!
