"as Chaudia Gorbman"...
Please help me to...
a) remove this (probably) inaccurate attribute on one of UW Tacoma professor Claudia Gorbman's credits, or:
b) verify whether it is, in fact, accurate and should remain (this seems unlikely to me).
Earlier, I submitted a name merge and a name correction for Claudia Gorbman, a professor of film studies at University of Washington Tacoma. Her credits (of which there are only two) were split into two name pages. One of these was a "self" credit for the 2018 documentary "A Totem Tale". The other was as an additional researcher on Before Stonewall (1984). The name page for Gorbman's credit on Before Stonewall misspelled her first name as "Chaudia", while her Before Stonewall credit bore the attribute "as Claudia Gorbman". Seeing as there is a known film scholar by the name of Claudia Gorbman, whereas a person by the name of "Chaudia Gorbman" is not known to exist, it seems likely that this was a typo by whoever was creating the IMDb page. I submitted a name correction to change the name page to "Claudia Gorbman", thereby removing the need for an attribute on her Stonewall credit.
Or so I thought. For some reason, when the correction was approved, instead of just getting rid of the "Chaudia" misspelling, it relocated it from the IMDb name to the attribution. Now, on Claudia Gorbman's newly-merged page, her Before Stonewall credit bears the attribute, "as Chaudia Gorbman". I don't have access to the film Before Stonewall and therefore cannot check myself, but given what I know about how the attribution only appeared after attempting to correct the name on the IMDb page, it seemed like an error so I tried to delete it (only to come back as "unable to verify").
Of course, I'm aware that names are sometimes misspelled in film credits. I don't think that's what's going on here. Do a Google search for "Chaudia Gorbman" in quotes and you'll see that nothing at all comes up other than IMDb. AFI catalog and other film websites do not contain the same error.
If anyone happens to own a copy of this film or knows where to find a digital version on the internet, they could easily check and see how the name is spelled in the credits. I don't, but in my view, the evidence that I have seen suggests that this misspelling originated with IMDb, and that the attribute should be removed.
For reference, here's Claudia's name page: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0329805/
