Box Office Mojo - more errors in upcoming releases
I saw a couple of errors in the upcoming release schedule at boxofficemojo.com. These are both on the page for May:
https://www.boxofficemojo.com/calendar/2026-05-01/
On May 13, re-releases for both Top Gun (https://www.boxofficemojo.com/release/rl1838579713/) and Top Gun: Maverick (https://www.boxofficemojo.com/release/rl3080093697/) are listed. However, Top Gun: Maverick is identified as "2026 Re-release (40th Anniversary)". I don't know whether either or both of these films is in fact being re-released next week, but it would be a 40th anniversary only for the original Top Gun, which was released in 1986. The sequel, Top Gun: Maverick, is from 2022 and is only having its 4th anniversary this year.
On May 22, Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu (https://www.boxofficemojo.com/release/rl3294527489/) is listed as having a "limited" release. As I pointed out in another discussion here six months ago (https://community-imdb.sprinklr.com/conversations/imdbprocom/box-office-mojo-more-errors-in-the-release-schedule/692118c4094efa2fa6fc9a84), this film is actually going to be a wide release, like every other Star Wars movie since 1983.
As Deadline.com reported (https://deadline.com/2026/04/box-office-star-wars-the-mandalorian-grogu-forecast-1236877031/), The Mandalorian and Grogu is currently expected to have an $80 million opening weekend, which would be impossible if it were only in limited release.
