Capitalization of occupations
There was an old topic about this, but it is gone along with @phil_g's account. The old topic was archived here. A ticket was filed, and Michelle later posted, "I can confirm that there is an open ticket (#P96450527) tracking this clean-up."
Many crew occupations are added in mixed case such as "Production Assistant" instead of the lower-case "production assistant". Sometimes both versions are submitted causing duplication.
Guidelines say: "We use lowercase for all job titles but please capitalize proper names as normal (people, places, companies)."
In addition, if you try to add a new occupation with capital letters there is a warning: "The occupation 'Production Healer' should usually be lower case.
Please change 'Production Healer' to 'production healer' unless you are sure it is correct." (If the occupation has a colon, the warning ignores text after the colon. Many proper names follow a colon.)
As phil_g wrote: "Although the submission form will generate a warning about capitals if a new job title is being added, there's no warning when re-using an existing occupation, so contributors often get no hint that it goes against policy."
Phil and @ljdoncel suggested that IMDb might be able to correct some existing entries back to lower-case. I would add that it may be possible to force lower-case in the contribution form.
