Credit Category Corrections: Moving Credits to Another Department Option

Credit Category Corrections: Moving Credits to Another Department Option

We are pleased to announce the recent launch of a new "Move category" option when contribution corrections to Cast and Crew on IMDb and IMDbPro. We encourage you to use this new option instead of deleting and re-adding singular credits.

If you click "Edit" next to the credits on a title or name page, then choose "Correct/Delete" next to one of the credit categories, you will now see a "Move category" option in the "Action" menu in the contribution form on the following page.

Image

Clicking "Move category" will then open a new tab where you can directly edit the category of that credit. Previously, the only way to modify a credit's category was by deleting it entirely before separately re-adding it under the correct credit.

Image

Please be aware that you can currently only move the category for one credit at a time. We recognize that it would be useful to be able to move multiple items at once. This recent launch single-item category edits is a stepping stone towards eventually supporting that more complete functionality.

As with any new feature, we're eager to hear your thoughts!

Please share your experience with this feature on this thread, and let us know how we can continue to improve your IMDb experience.

Although I have received the standard acknowledgment email for these submissions, they are not listed in my contribution history. Can this be changed? I rarely keep the emails, but never delete anything in my history.

I have noticed that all my contributions where I used new 'move category' action are not visible Contribution History. I have saved one reference:https://contribute.imdb.com/contribution/260429-100912-633319 It's accepted but impossible to get it from history. Why? Note: This comment was created from a merged conversation Link : https://community-imdb.sprinklr.com/conversations/imdbcom/why-my-contributions-are-not-visible-in-history/69f7ac959dcc8e5cd43f8361 Title : Why my contributions are not visible in history?

@dopinginho You can access these via the tracking links in the email receipts and via the newer contribution history section at https://contribute.imdb.com/contributions/history

Hope this helps.

I am in a similar position to Gray having worked in a color department and having many color credits I would like to change to the new Colour Dept.

IMDB support has advised I need to provide screen grabs of credits per show in order to do this which isn’t practical.

Are you able to assist me in a similar way?

Note from support

"2- Have these credits always be listed within the editing department at IMDb or were they recently moved to Editorial?

I ask this because, if they have always been listed under Editorial, then unfortunately they would need to be moved manually, and you would need to make each separate request, and attach the appropriate evidence confirming they belong to a different department, The evidence requested for already released titles is a screen grab of the rolling credits where your name and role performed are displayed."

@FinlayReid - Hi,

You can now move the credits through the contribution form. You can find further instructions above or on our following Help Guide. Look for the section of 'Changing the category of a credit:'

Cheers!

Thanks for the swift reply Maya. I found the 'move' function earlier today and spent the best part of an hour going through individually moving each credit - all of these moves have been declined by your team. Would you be able to assit me with this?All my editorial credits should have moved into the new colour department catagory as these were all in service of di post production. Currently because the older credits are still in editorial these are the ones showing up on my page first. Can you help me?

https://imgur.com/a/AcOZrmK   I went to see how this all works. I went to the film 'Dog Man' to move Finlay's credit from Editorial Department to Color Department. Nothing showed up on my personal contributor page with the reference number. I did get an email though. So I took 260529-000418-040819 and searched on my contributor page but I just get a blank white page. Can these moves to a new department be made to show up on our personal contributor page with the reference number? Otherwise the only way I know if it was approved would be to go the movie page periodically to check.

@ben_hampel

The history issue was answered immediately above by Col Needham.

@FinlayReid The correction for Dog Man (2025) got approved. I'll try some more for you.

Thank you Ben! Really appreciate it. I wonder why yours was approved but mine were denied.

Just for transparency, I've tried to get Dog Man removed multiple times. I think this was added by someone with a default list of credits. But unfortunately, I did not work on Dog Man. A few of my colleagues have the same issue.

@FinlayReid All of the Editorial Department credits have moved to the Color Department. Can you confirm if all of the other departments are correct?                                                           Also is this you or another person?  https://www.imdb.com/name/nm15950689/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_1_tt_2_nm_6_in_0_q_Finlay%20Reid

That is amazing, thanks so much.

There is one more rouge credit on there which is in the vfx department. I have been credited with vfx editor on the 335 - this is not correct.

That is me! I guess they added the thanks but it created a new profile?

@FinlayReid Thanks for reporting the issue with “The 355” — it appears someone assigned James Devlin’s credit to you in error; a correction is in progress.

@FinlayReid

For you... anything.

Can you confirm if all of the other departments are correct? Nothing more to move to a different department?
