Editing issue for film credits

The credits for "An American in Paris" has Conrad Salinger listed under "Music by" when it should be George Gershwin. But when I try to edit that credit, the editing page shows Conrad Salinger as "Orchestrated by" and Gershwin listed correctly as "Music by." So I'm not sure how to fix this, but Gershwin needs to be listed properly. How can this be fixed?

Thanks.

Johnny: The issue is that there are separate credits in the Composers section and the Music Department section. On IMDb, the person listed in the Composer section has the "Music by" credit, and everyone in the Music Department is listed separately under "Music Department".

Normally only one person is listed in the Composers section and gets the "Music by" credit.

As for modern titles, this is normally the person credited in any of the following ways in the opening title sequence (this is not an exhaustive list):

Music by

Score by

Music composed by

Original score composed and conducted by

Music composed, orchestrated and conducted by

https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/filmography-credits/composers/GFLLMYE6VJUXBYJT#

All music jobs not already covered by the composer or soundtrack lists are included in the Music Department.

As I understand it (I haven't actually seen An American in Paris), the score is adapted from a number of compositions by George Gershwin -- but he had died fourteen years earlier, so he didn't write any music directly for this film.

Currently IMDb lists Conrad Salinger (uncredited) in the Composers section with the "Music by" designation. Meanwhile, in the Music Department section, George Gershwin is listed there with "music by" as his job title and Conrad Salinger is listed again with the "orchestrator" job title.

So I would appreciate the IMDb staff's comment on (1) whether anyone should have the Composer credit for this film, and (2) if so, whether it should be George Gershwin or someone else.

Hi JohnnyDoNot and gromit82-

Further reviewing the credits for both Conrad Salinger and George Gershwin on this title, both are correctly credited as they appeared on the on-screen credits and under the Music Department with the respective attributes.

However, as gromit82 mentioned, there was an incorrect credit for Conrad Salinger under Composers as (uncredited) which has been now been removed. The changes will be live on the site shortly.

Cheers!
