Solved

editted into vs featured in?

If clips from title (A) are edited into another title (B), but the name of A is mentioned, is this "edited into" or "featured in"?

Hi @JC46,

Thank you for question. Does this Help guide provide you with an answer? If not, please give a specific example and we can provide further guidance.

Cheers!

I already looked at that and it is unclear.  For 'edited into' it says, "...without reference to the earlier movie."  So does that mean that it does reference the earlier movie, it isn't 'edited into/from'?  But for 'featured in', it says, "...for example, on TV or characters attend a cinema screening during the movie, or the audio from a program is heard on a TV or a flashback sequence or a clip in a review program."  The example I'm looking it isn't characters watching it but is somewhat like 'clips in a review program'.

The short film I'm looking at is on youtube at: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydEtZSeRfVY

Particularly at 16:40.

The imdb page is tt0908298.  The connections section says that it is 'edited from', but to me, that looks more like 'features'.

JC: In this particular case, I would have used "features" instead of "edited from". These scenes are being introduced as being scenes from previous Disney films.

The quintessential example of an "edited from" situation, I would say, is Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid (1982) in which clips from 1940s film noirs are edited into the storyline so that it appears that Steve Martin's character is having conversations with characters played by Humphrey Bogart, Veronica Lake, and other stars of the past.

By contrast, an example of a typical "features" situation (just one that comes to mind right now) is that in A Complete Unknown (2024), in which Bob and Sylvie go to a movie theater to watch Now, Voyager (1942), and we see a clip from that film on the movie screen where they are watching it.

The show you are dealing with is much closer to the latter situation ("features") than the former ("edited from").
