electronic graphics credits

I'm hoping you can give me an answer as to where "electronic graphics" or "electronic graphic artist" belong.

Currently the approximate numbers are:

Art Department: 2896 + 49 =2945

Editorial Department: 88 + 137 = 215

Visual Effects: 783 + 0 = 783

Additional Crew: 2418 + 64 = 2482

Or is it indeterminate because we have no idea which department the credits are listed under on the credits, even though many of the supposed "credited" credits are probably uncredited?

Also, there are too many to move by hand so some IMDb help would be good if it's determined they should be moved. BTW these credits include capitalized, non-capitalized, and 's' endings on the adjectives.

Also, should "electronic graphics" be changed to "electronic graphis artist" or left alone?

THanks

Hi @nickbianco -

We would list them as they are on-screen, or as they are on the contract if it was uncredited, so both could be correct.

Cheers!

I see that. But what about when this credit is shown in any or all of the four categories I've listed and they're all for different episodes of the same tv show? You'd certainly want credits for the episodes of the same tv show to be in the same department, but which one? Maybe with the department that has the most episode credits for that job? Thanks.

Hi @nickbianco -

Typically, series credits are formatted the same from episode to episode, concerning the placement of roles and credited sections.  However, as you mentioned, some episode on-screen credits may vary.

The category placement for 'electronic graphics' or 'electronic graphic artist' is dependent on what section these credits were shown on-screen under.  So if the roles were credited alongside the 'Art Department' credits, this is the category that should be used, if on another episode of the series the roles were credited amongst general crew credits (no specific category) then these should be listed under 'Additional Crew'.

If you find that there are 'electronic graphics'/'electronic graphic artist' credits for a particular episode listed separately under several different categories, though they were grouped together within the on-screen credit roll for the episode, the credits should be moved to the same category where the credits were seen on the on-screen credits.

I hope this helps clarify!
