Solved

Fake credits

The production coordinator of a film written and directed by my friend is adding false credits to the film's IMDb page, even claiming that she co-directed the film with my friend, despite her role being solely as the production coordinator. How can I prove that she is the one adding this false information? We are suing her for all these issues and need IMDb's support to resolve this situation, which is infringing on my friend's copyright.

Hi alexiacanass-

In order for our staff to further review, can you post the link of the film's IMDb page?

Cheers!

@alexiacanass Thank you for providing the link! We have investigated and have removed the incorrect credits. The changes will be live on the site shortly. Further actions have now been taken on the contributor responsible.

You are welcome to submit a correction on any other incorrect credits through the online update form.

Cheers!

@Maya

Thank you! But I wanted to know if it’s possible to receive information from IMDb about the person adding these false credits, as we know it is the production coordinator, and we are filing a lawsuit against her for several other matters related to copyright infringement of this film, and this would serve as further evidence against her. If you provide an email, we can send the extrajudicial notification and the lawsuit details so you can be informed. We really need support against this person.

Not even through legal means? Because we can send a legal notice to IMDb to obtain the evidence... I just wanted to know if you could do it without us having to go through all this formality.

@alexiacanass As mentioned in our last response, even if we could track down who sent a specific piece of data, it is our policy not to disclose contact details or any other information about our users and contributors.

Sorry, it's just that, as you mentioned the actions were taken against the responsible contributor, I assumed you had the data on who provided the false information. In any case, we will have to proceed with our judicial request. However, I really appreciate you clarifying and resolving the matter for now.
