How are Contribution Resubmissions processed?

With maybe five exceptions out of thousands of contributions, I have noticed that resubmissions are usually not accepted, either with or without explanations. Contributors are encouraged to make resubmissions when a contribution is declined. But, are resubmissions “shuttled off” Into a separate category and summarily just declined? Are these "declines” just “going along” with a previous decision as an easy affirmation of a staffer's (often incorrect) previous decision? Is this just something that is already “programmed” Into “handling” contributions? If so, this is very unfair to the hard working, volunteering contributor. P.S. I can give you many examples, if you like.

Hi bradley_kent, Re-submissions are not treated any differently from any other contribution. They are processed the same way, and will not be declined based on previous attempts, unless for example, there is reason to believe the re-submission still does not meet our guidelines in any way. Only then would our team decline a re-submission. If you're able to provide examples of re-submissions with explanations/evidence that have been declined, please do. However for the avoidance of doubt, please be aware that the inclusion of explanations and/or evidence does not always mean a contribution will be approved. This will be down to the specific data contributed, and any formatting rules/guidelines/policies etc. that determine whether the data should be approved. Explanations or evidence given with contributions should clearly state why the item (information) should be listed on IMDb, and must be able to be verified by our processing team. When this cannot be accurately verified without sufficient explanation and/or evidence, the contribution may be declined. Thanks!

There are hundreds. And... Look at this: https://community-imdb.sprinklr.com/conversations/data-issues-policy-discussions/please-read-the-explanations/6830eb10b18ed11eed68095b You seem to be creating an ”outlier” rejection list of Westerns that are being denied the correct Drama genre for no apparent nor logical reason.

Hi bradley_kent, I have taken another look at the examples you've provided above, and can confirm that using our regular evaluation of genre submissions, these submissions were appropriately declined. This has been previously explained to you in other community threads, with the addition of the "Drama" genre not being mass applicable for these such example titles, i.e. any and all Westerns. As always, to increase the chance of your genre contributions being approved, we recommend adding a detailed explanation or sufficient supporting evidence that explicitly aligns with IMDb's genre guidelines with your submissions. Thanks!

I have had so few resubmissions accepted that the above explanation is hard to believe. What is the percentage of resubmission that get accepted?

Out of some 500 previously declined resubmissions, only twenty some get accepted. Something is going on with the processing of resubmissions that contributors are not being made aware of.

Curiously, all but one of the “appropriately declined” submissions cited above, have now been accepted for Drama OR Comedy genres. The exception: 250625-054954-483000 Track Contribution 2025-06-25 05:49:54 The Scarlet Drop (1918) Genres - 1 item added Why?

It just seems impossible to believe that resubmissios are processed In the same way as original submissions. As an experiment, contributed 30 resubmissions with 30 original submissions. All but four of the original submissions were accpted. Those declined for no apparent reason: 250702-180904-767000 Track Contribution 2025-07-02 18:09:04 The Lucky Horseshoe (1925) Genres - 1 item added 250702-174529-025000 Track Contribution 2025-07-02 17:45:29 The Thundering Herd (1925) Genres - 1 item added 250702-164739-932000 Track Contribution 2025-07-02 16:47:39 The Desert Hawk (1924) Genres - 1 item added 250702-164456-696000 Track Contribution 2025-07-02 16:44:56 The Terror of Pueblo (1924) Genres - 1 item added: Of the resubmissions, only ONE was accepted! Something doesn’t ring true Are most resubmissions automatically declined?

Six more of the resubmissions have now been processed, but that is way below what it should be.

Based on the evidence, it is impossible to believe that resubmissions are processed in the same way as original submissions. Are resubmissions flagged? Are they given any extra attention? If a contributor makes the effort to resubmit, it may well mean that that resubmission is accurate. Now, it just seems like the vast majority of submissions are ignored? “slid over”? rejected "en masse”?

So... I contributed forty-some new submissions and forty-some resubmissions (almost all with explanations). All but two of the new submissions were accepted, but (you guessed it) ONLY two of the resubmissions were accepted. What further proof does one need to see that resubmissions are not processed In the same way as new submissions. Very frustrating. Come clean. How, actually, are resubmissions processed? Are explanations even read and considered, or are they just a waste of time? The truth will set you free.

It seems obvious that if a submission has been declined once, there is also a considerable risk that a resubmission of the same thing will be declined.

Yes, but when resubmissions contain encouraged explanations, it seems like they should be given extra consideration. Many rejections seem illogical and irrational, even haphazard and nonsensical.
