I Need Clarification on Connections

I just watched a movie called "Footlight Parade" [tt0024028] and there are several connections (under 'referenced in' and 'spoofed in') that say that there is connection to this movie because of a scene where people or animals make a 'kaleidoscope' pattern while dancing, swimming or flying. As far as I can find, this may have been the first movie where it was done, but I don't think that's really enough to say there is a link. It seems to me that it has become so standard that it's not referencing this film. Here's videos of what I mean: The original - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysvQ5MaUbd8 Supposed connection - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUEu4r3cW8U&t=87s Supposed connection - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4jUW7OEwFM&t=162 I haven't tried deleting them yet because I wanted clarify if it counts as a connection or not first.

Hello JC46, If you feel that the connections are wrong, you can submit the deletions with the evidence provided using the online Update Form, you can find help and instructions in our Help Articles: https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/titles/movie-connections/GNUNL9W2FTZDGF4Y?ref_=helpsrall#

I feel that they are wrong but I'd like to know if that is consistent with imdb's views on connections. If I try to delete them, the request will likely be rejected, but that's what usually happens when I try to delete rejections. It will say that I hadn't provided sufficient evidence though I don't know how to prove there ISN'T a connection. Then I'll have to post again with the reference number to see if I was right to delete them. So I'd like to know in advance if it's appropriate to delete them.

I think this Note in the Movie Connections guide covers your question: "Similarities in the plot are not considered movie links. i.e. simply because two movies feature a government official who goes rogue to seek revenge and drives a blue Chevy does not mean that one movie references the other. Please consider submitting a plot keyword instead."

That is the part of the guidelines I would cite when deleting, but the problem is that this is more than a similarity because it's not completely coincidental, but I think it's less than a reference. Some of the submissions say that it was an homage to this movie. Some of them might be though I doubt all of them are.

@JC46- If there are some that do not completely align to our guidelines just like @david_glagovsky referenced above, then you can go ahead and submit those with the respective explanation and links.
