I submitted a film review but your system warned about profanity

A few minutes ago I submitted a review for "The good, the bad and the ugly" but I noticed a warning about profanity and how that meant that my review might not be accepted. The language which I think was in question was from some quotes in the film. Personally, I didn't think that the language was highly offensive. I self-censored by using an underscore for some words but it should be obvious what those words were, like this safe example: "ap_le".

So, just wondering whether in this case it would be acceptable for me not to have to self-censor. Will my review be accepted as it is now? I don't think that the profanity warning disappeared, so I'm not sure what the issue is now.

On a side note, is there a word limit on reviews? IMDB now has a system where the bulk of a long review is hidden and you can unhide it.

P.S. I would like to see the return of being able to search for your reviews by letter of the alphabet...as in specific letters of the alphabet.

Hi @deeflee -

We don't allow profanity in User Reviews, so your submission could likely be declined (even if the profanity is in quotes or the term is partially hidden).   Can you post the 18-digit submission reference number for our staff to take a look?

Hi Michelle

The submission reference number disappears once you navigate away from your submitted review, doesn't it? I didn't note it. Can I access it somehow? If I can't, how about if I just post up my original review, without the self-censorship, provide you with the reference number and then wait to hear from your team with what needs to be changed?  As I said, I was using actual quotes from the film because I found them interesting and the words in that are the type of words that you might hear in a news story or is otherwise a mild swear word.

Otherwise, would my review be viewable by your team, even though it isn't online yet? I can't imagine that this  film would have a stack of pending reviews of it. Maybe only mine is pending? My ID on IMDB is similar to what you've linked. Let me know.

My last review of the previous film in the trilogy took a couple of days to go live. Maybe that was because I posted it on a weekend or something.

@deeflee Hi-

You can view your submission reference number on the top right corner receipt for your email that you received when you sent the contribution.

In any case, as Michelle mentioned, you can make the respective corrections to the review as profanity is not allowed and re-submit it. Once you send it, you can post the new 18-digit submission reference number here and we can take a look.

Cheers!
