IMDb contributions cannot be edited after submission (while still awaiting review), but new submissions are rejected as "duplicates"

I updated some information about a film on IMDb and wanted to provide a website URL to substantiate the information, but I added the wrong URL. I am unable to update the URL, and every time I add a new submission, it is immediately rejected as a "duplicate" of the pending submission. I just want to edit my submission and I don't understand why it is not possible.

Hi RareElectronic, It is not possible to edit a pending submission. Therefore, you will have to wait until your original submission has been processed in order to edit or correct any information.
