Solved

IMDb demands that I enter manually the same information 185 times in a series

I was reviewing an old TV series from Brazil, that I was familiar with because it was also shown in my country, and found that the information about the creator was incomplete.

When I tried to add it via the series page, not episode 1 or episode 199, I received the polite rejection that I actually expected. IMDb has rules, and - in similar cases - I just took a deep breath, and gave up. This time I was ready to fight back.

Is there no way to circumvent the automatic rejection of entering updates to people, when the IMDb user is 100% sure that they were credited the same way along a series?

In the present case, "Silvio de Abreu" appears as the creator for all 165 episodes of the series.

Thanks.

Yes, by using the episode field as mentioned here:

However, this writer is already listed on 185 episodes.

@Peter_pbn Yes, he is, but not explicitly as «creator» as he should be.

I was trying to make the credit complete.

Not a big thing, you may say. But the question I raise may be seen in general terms: what if a name is missing in all episodes of a long series?

You could resubmit, add "creator" in the attribute field and select all the episodes in the episode field.

That would still leave the current credits without attributes, but it's a hassle to have to edit 185 credits. Perhaps IMDb staff would be able to delete them.

@Peter_pbn I'm not following your advice, first because I do not think IMDb's automatic rejection would take it anyway, and second because I would be feeling bad for duplicating an entry.

Eventually someone in the IMDb staff will have a look at this problem I raised, and will had the Occupation «creator» in all the series episode.

Hi @artemis_9,

The creator attribute has now been added to the writer's credits for this title. This update will appear live across all IMDb platforms shortly. For future reference, you can bulk add an attribute to all episodes by following @Peter_pbn's advice above. As for circumstances whereby a duplicated credit might appear without the new attribute, these can be removed by going to the individual's name page and selecting the duplicate or "old" credits for removal.

As always, we encourage you to make contributions where possible, and also report any mistakes you encounter for staff to review.

I hope this helps!

@Ozzy Thank you for the action, and the prompt reply.

I did not act on Peter's suggestion for the reasons I mentioned, and also because I had done exactly those actions (adding the Occupation, selecting Whole Series) before, and did not believe the system would accept me trying again.
