IMDb Event Pages Need Stronger Verification for Film Festivals and Awards
Hello IMDbPro Staff,
I am Ashvin Borad, and in April, my IMDb contribution ranking reached #123 on the IMDb leaderboard. As someone who regularly works on IMDb Event Pages and festival-related corrections, I would like to highlight an important concern regarding the Event Page category on IMDb.
At present, many film festivals are operating primarily through FilmFreeway pages and social media accounts, while their Event Pages continue to be listed on IMDb despite having inactive, unavailable, outdated, or “Not Found” official websites. When actors, filmmakers, cast and crew members, or award winners visit IMDb to verify and showcase their achievements, proper official supporting evidence is often missing because many festivals do not maintain transparent winner lists or professionally managed websites.
For independent artists and small cast and crew members, official websites and authentic online records are extremely important. If they do not receive coverage on recognized organic news platforms, they naturally search for their names on the festival’s official website for proof and credibility. A professionally maintained website in the festival’s own name serves as strong evidence of authenticity, transparency, and professionalism.
This raises an important question: if a festival does not even have the resources to maintain an official website, how is it operating professionally as an internationally recognized event platform?
I respectfully request IMDb to consider implementing stricter verification standards for Event Pages whose official websites are inactive, unavailable, outdated, or not professionally maintained. IMDb could contact festival organizers and request updated official websites or proper supporting evidence in order to maintain their Event Pages. There are also several festivals operating entirely without official websites, which creates confusion about how such Event Pages originally received approval on IMDb.
I personally worked on corrections related to the Event Pages of Guinness World Records and Limca Book of Records. Both organizations already had official websites, but due to outdated or incorrect URLs, their IMDb pages were showing “Not Found.” Through direct email communication with IMDb, I submitted the correct website details, and those corrections were later approved. This experience demonstrated how important accurate website verification is for maintaining credibility on IMDb.
I also believe that duplicate festivals and non-professional Event Pages should be carefully reviewed and removed where necessary. Many event organizers do not professionally maintain their festival pages, and some festivals do not even publish proper awardee listings or official documentation. In such cases, it becomes difficult to understand how cast, crew members, or award winners are being officially listed on IMDb without proper verification or authentic supporting evidence.
Therefore, maintaining transparency, authenticity, professionalism, and proper verification standards is extremely important. I sincerely believe that the IMDb team should seriously review these concerns in order to protect the credibility of IMDb Event Pages and maintain trust within the global entertainment community.

If a client has received an award from these festivals but the festival does not have a proper official website, then strong supporting evidence is required before adding the award to IMDb. According to IMDb’s awards contribution guidelines, recipients and titles must be clearly verifiable through the awarding body’s official listing or reliable supporting sources.
For many small artists and independent filmmakers, there is often no coverage on well-known news platforms. In such cases, their names are usually verified and listed for awards on the basis of the festival’s official website. That is why an official website becomes an important source of authenticity and proof for IMDb award verification.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,Ashvin BoradIMDb Contributor
