Included below is our end-of-year message to IMDb's top data contributors for 2025. 

Welcome—I'm grateful for this opportunity to celebrate IMDb's incredible contributors and thank our customers worldwide for their continued trust! This is my first annual letter to IMDb's contributor community. As the second CEO in IMDb’s 35-year history, I'm honored to continue a tradition that IMDb Founder & Executive Chair, Col Needham established many years ago—taking time at the end of the year to thank you and celebrate what we've accomplished together.

At IMDb, we often talk about our favorite movies and TV shows. One of mine is Sleepless in Seattle. Watching that film inspired me to move across the United States to start a new adventure at a technology company that ultimately led me to IMDb—a company where movies and TV connect us, inspire us, and sometimes even change the course of our lives.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed factual data, written a review, created a list, voted on a poll, or added to IMDb in any other way. Whether you're a top contributor or someone who occasionally rates a film that moves you, your contributions help connect millions of people around the world through their shared love of entertainment.

The Numbers

Thanks to countless hours of dedication from contributors like you, IMDb now includes:

• Almost 26MM titles with more than 3.5MM added in 2025
• Almost 15MM names with more than 836K added in 2025
• Almost 228MM filmography credits with more than 15.5MM added in 2025
• Almost 9MM customer reviews with more than 541K added in 2025

That's why we're committed to making your contribution experience as efficient and customer-friendly as possible.

Here’s a look back at some of what we accomplished together in 2025:

Streamlined Contribution Experiences: We updated the customer experience across contribution forms with a cleaner layout, an always-visible “Submit/Check Updates” button, keyboard shortcuts, and an optional “Compact View” setting. We also improved trivia and plot contributions on our mobile apps with a simplified interface and better accessibility.

Improved Community Features: We reduced the minimum character count for customer reviews from 600 to 300 characters, making it easier to share your thoughts. We also launched AI-powered review summaries and themes on title pages, helping fans quickly understand community sentiment and discover insights from the reviews you write. To help you track what you've seen, we introduced the “Watched” feature across web and mobile apps, and improved our community features—including polls, profiles, and badges—with mobile-friendly designs.

Enhanced Professional Recognition: We added 12 new professional credit categories and expanded recognition for voice actors who dub movies and TV shows into foreign languages. This means choreographers, colorists, production coordinators, property masters, intimacy coordinators, and many other essential professionals now have more visibility across IMDb and IMDbPro and their credits are no longer listed under "Additional Crew."

These improvements were made possible by the feedback and insights you provide.

The Future

AI is fundamentally changing how people discover entertainment information. Yet the needs of entertainment fans remain constant: knowing when and where their favorite movies and TV shows are available, and what others think about them. IMDb's authoritative data continues to power these experiences—both new and existing—as the industry evolves.

Our response is a more personalized IMDb. We're building experiences where you can connect with fans who share your entertainment interests, discover what to watch next based on your preferences, and engage with our community in new ways. We're also expanding our support for entertainment professionals worldwide, ensuring the talented people behind your favorite content receive proper recognition and can advance their careers.
