Is the BUDGET visible to the general public, or just IMDB Pro users?

Is the BUDGET visible to the general public, or just IMDB Pro users?

I want to keep this information confidential and not open to the entire internet / public. How do I do this? Or can I delete the budget altogether?

Hello @MizM,

You can find the budget information on IMDbPro (in the Box Office section), but also sometimes, it is possible to find this information in the FAQ section on IMDb. You can see an example here.

@Jon

It is also on the main title page under Box Office.

Can I remove the budget from public visibility?

I do not recall having to provide this information or it being requested just a few years ago with my other short film.

@MizM

It is not required to submit a budget. You can try deleting it through the edit feature, but it may be rejected.

@Bethanny Hi Bethanny - that contradicts the fact that a previous film of mine on IMDB was never asked for a budget and that was not a problem or concern. Please advise.

With all due respect, that is not an answer to what I was referring to. If IMDB accepted a film without budget info before, it is NOT necessary. Therefore I will be removing the title from your database.

All of these responses are clear contradictions to reality. MANY films do not exhibit their budget. There are some uploaded within the last 2 years that have NO MENTION OF BOX OFFICE ANYWHERE.

MizM: You don't need to submit a budget in order to get a film accepted into the database. When submitting a new film to IMDb, you must submit at least one of the four Production Information items -- a Budget, an Official Site, a Distributor, or a Production Company. This has been the policy for years. (Note that many titles are submitted to IMDb by people not involved in the production who don't even know what the film's budget was.)

But if the film does have a budget submitted to IMDb, it will be displayed on the film's IMDb page. And it will only be deleted if the listed budget is incorrect.

If you want to enter a film into IMDb without having a budget displayed, just make sure to submit an official website, a distributor, and/or a production company for the film instead.

I hope this helps.

So should I delete my film from IMDB and do this all over again, or can it be removed and replaced with the information you requested?

Hi @MizM,

You cannot delete factual information as previously stated above. If the information is accurate, it cannot be deleted or corrected.

Cheers!

Hi @MizM,

No, if the information is correct, you cannot delete the title. You should correct any information that is incorrect instead.

Thanks!
