Is there a forum for better understanding of submission guidelines?

Hi all - is there a specific forum where I can ask questions/better understand submission guidelines? I had one rejected and wanted to educate myself on what I did wrong.

Thanks

Hi @cinefyl,

Please provide us with your 18-digit submission reference so we can look into this for you. You can find this in your Contribution History. Unless you are referring to an Image or User Review contribution, which can be found in your Contribution History (beta).

Thanks!

@Ozzy thanks - it's #240604-210658-572000

I can provide more context once you review - thanks

Hi @cinefyl,

Thank you for the reference.

I have reviewed your submission and can confirm this was likely declined as our editors were unable to verify whether the connection being added was a direct or overt reference. If you can provide more information to support this being a clear reference, we would encourage you to do so in a re-submission.

For more information, please see our Help guide on Movie connections.

I hope this helps!

Thanks this does help - this is more of an indirect or subtle reference to another film. Are indirect or subtle not suitable for connections? Is the preference for something that is very very specific and direct and an average viewer would think "Oh yes, that is just like MOVIE ABC"?

Hi @cinefyl,

A reference connection is typically accepted as something more direct and renowned. However, you could alternatively submit this information as trivia for the title referencing the other. Please see our Trivia guidelines for more information.

Cheers!
