My poster hasn't been approved. Why?

Actually old poster vs my poster. My poster is in High resolution. Not include fan art. Please help me.

So, the font looks different, the crutch looks different, Tommy Lee Jones is not wearing a wedding ring, the pattern on Jessica Lange underwear is different, her finger is very long and melting into the robe. Could this this be AI slop.

You're absolutely right. I hadn't noticed those details. Maybe I'm the kind of person who focuses more on the big picture than on the smaller details. I upscaled the old poster we have for that movie on IMDb to improve it, but the AI added some strange elements. Next time, I'll check it carefully to make sure the upscaling doesn't introduce any strange artifacts. Thank you littleredspiders

As mentioned earlier, fan art, fan-made posters, modified images, and unofficial artwork are not eligible for submission, regardless of their quality.

You are welcome to submit an official image that has not been altered or modified from its original source.

Thanks for your reply, Maya. IMDb is my passion, and I want to help make it better. Is it allowed to upscale an image without modifying it? There are currently expensive programs that upscale images while preserving every detail, without changing anything. Would that be allowed in that case? Here’s an example I just made. It’s an expensive program because it requires a membership, but it doesn’t modify anything—it just upscales the image. Let me know what you think in this case.

Hi Maya. The ImageGuidelines don’t prohibit upscaling. They prohibit modifications made by anyone other than the production company. That’s why I think the policy regarding upscaling—which doesn’t modify anything—should be made clearer.

Increasing the resolution on its own doesn’t necessarily imply the use of AI. There are traditional interpolation techniques that simply increase the image size without generating or altering content. The mere presence of a higher-resolution image does not allow us to conclude that generative AI has been used.

When a user takes a photo of a VHS or DVD cover (to give you an example), today’s cameras have their own upscaling, enhancement, and other technologies.

Even new scanners have their own technologies that bring out finer details.

I’ve been looking into this.

Upscaling without AI: enlarging a 1000×1500 poster to 2000×3000 using bicubic interpolation. No new information is added; only the existing pixels are redistributed.

Upscaling with AI: enlarging the same poster using a neural network that attempts to reconstruct details of skin, clothing, text, or backgrounds based on patterns learned from millions of images.

The program I used for the last image is Upscale WITHOUT AI.

The last image also looks like AI as the shadow from the crutch is different and the DVD logo has been removed.

The title is old and the live Poster is correct and should not be changed for a customized version.
