Need help – credit keeps getting rejected with “Does not meet contribution guidelines”

Hi IMDb team, I submitted an Editor credit for myself (Xu, Jia IX) on the project The Mafia Boss's Runaway Bride (2024), but it was declined with only the reason: “Does not meet contribution guidelines.” Unfortunately, that’s all the explanation I received — there was no detail or hint on what exactly doesn’t meet the requirements. I’ve already reviewed the submission guidelines but still can’t identify what I should change. To clarify: I worked as the editor on this project. The title is already listed on IMDb. I submitted under my correct IMDb name: Xu, Jia (IX). I selected the “Editor” section and used “edited by” as the job title. I’ve contributed before and have an IMDb contributor account with verified identity. Could someone kindly take a look and help me understand why this was rejected, and how I can properly resubmit it? I’m happy to provide additional proof of my role on the project if needed. Thanks a lot for your time!

Hello janexxxxxj, Can you help us posting the 18-digits submission reference number for the contribution? in order to take a look for you. You can find the submission number in your Contribution History page: https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/contribution-information/contribution-history/G2BYV38VYPXM5L4F?ref_=helpsrall#

Hi, thanks for your reply! This is the latest track number I was able to find: #250627-235658-136000.

The rejection is because as Peter_pbn mentioned, the credit was submitted to the main TV Series page instead of the episode that you worked on. You will have to re submit the credit to the Episode directly as it shows in our Help Articles: https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/filmography-credits/how-do-i-add-an-episodic-credit/GRRHUZAQPQV4T2F9?ref_=helpsrall#

Hi Fran, Thank you so much for clearly explaining the issue. I’ve managed to resolve it! Just as you mentioned, there was an option to select the episode I edited, but only Episode 1 was available in the dropdown. Since I didn’t work on Episode 1, I had previously skipped that option, which is likely why my submission kept getting rejected. This time, I selected Episode 1 anyway, and the credit went through. Appreciate your help!

Most likely because it's a series and IMDb wants you to add the credit to episodes.

I tried adding only the parts I worked on, but it still didn’t go through.

Hi Peter, Thanks for your advice. You’re right — IMDb does require me to select specific episodes, otherwise the submission gets rejected. I think this might be due to how the original title was set up by the person who created the project, because for other projects I didn’t have to choose an episode at all. Appreciate the help!
