Solved

one film, multiple listings

Hello there,

Somehow I ended up with I believe 3 listings for 1 film. Either two need to be deleted, or all three merged.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt35170368/?ref_=nm_flmg_job_1_cdt_t_10  This is the one with photos, and I believe the first one entered

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt35169582/?ref_=nm_flmg_job_2_unrel_t_1

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt35169582/?ref_=nm_flmg_job_3_unrel_t_1

Sorry about this, this was a lot of changes, made, and I am not quite sure how this happened.

Also, do I need to post a website link to list a film?

Thanks,

Tim

Tim: You actually have only two pages for this film:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt35170368/

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt35169582/

The part of the URL that begins with "?ref ..." is for IMDb's internal use only and can be disregarded.

The one with the photos has a higher "tt" number in the URL, meaning that it was actually entered into the database later. But that doesn't really make a difference to this situation.

Here is how to merge the two entries. Go to the page with less information at https://www.imdb.com/title/tt35169582/. Click "Edit page".

On the next screen, near the bottom of the page, on the Title Correction line, select "Add correction". Click "Continue".

On the next screen, there will be a blank line on which to enter the corrected title. Enter it as:

Fish Tales (2010/II)

In the Explanation box, enter something like this: "This film has been mistakenly entered into IMDb twice. I am requesting to merge this page with the other page for this same film, which contains more information." Also, if you are the director, include the statement, "I am the director of this movie." Click "Check these updates".

On the next screen, you will get a warning that says, "The new title already exists in IMDb.

Are you sure you want to merge this title into Fish Tales (2010/II) ...." That's what you want, so check the box marked "Warning understood, go ahead anyway." Click "Re-check these updates".

On the next screen, your data should appear with a green background, and you should be able to click "Submit these updates".

Allow a few days for the merge to go through. Good luck!

To answer your other question, when submitting a new title to the database, one is expected to provide a Miscellaneous Link (URL) to prove that the film/TV show/etc. actually exists and was or will be released. (Note that you don't need to provide a link to a viewing copy of the film. For example, a link to a film festival schedule showing that the movie was screened there would be fine, as would some other kinds of evidence.)

If you don't have any URL to provide as evidence of the title, you might still be able to get the title listed, but you will need to provide an explanation of how IMDb can be sure that the title is real and was or will be released. That will be a much more difficult situation than if you did have a URL to provide.

I hope this helps.

Hi Gromit82,

Thanks so much.

There are so many weird things that have happened with my entries, once I added new elements to them. I still have to fix the date on that film, but will worry about that once it is back to one entry.

Thanks again.
