parental guide
I want to know why IMDB hasn't made it mandatory to automatically disclose scenes and descriptions of rape, a warning for photosensitive viewers, animal cruelty, etc., as these things can trigger a severe reaction in certain humans (I use the term human as a reminder that content viewers are not soulless zombies who stare at screens 24/7).

While our Parental Guides are not currently mandatory, when relevant severities are displayed in scenes and submitted to the title's page Parent's Guide section, we will review and display them.
The scene examples you described would absolutely qualify for inclusion within this featured section and when submitted to us for a title, it would be reviewed and displayed upon approval.
However, if there is a concerning title that showcases such scenes but does not yet include a parental guide, this means that the data just hasn't been submitted to us yet. In these cases, we encourage to review either the Plot keywords or User reviews to know the type of content to expect on the title.
