Possible unusual voting pattern for The Odyssey

Hello IMDb,

I have a question regarding the voting pattern for The Odyssey.

The film currently has a weighted IMDb rating of 8.3, but the ratings distribution seems unusual. 36.6% of users have rated it 10/10, 22.6% have rated it 9/10, and 14.3% have rated it 8/10. In contrast, all ratings from 2/10 to 6/10 combined account for only about 7.2% of the votes, while 13.9% of all votes are 1/10.

It seems unusual that there are almost twice as many 1/10 ratings as all ratings from 2/10 through 6/10 combined. I understand that some users genuinely dislike the film, but this distribution looks unusual, so I was wondering if IMDb has reviewed this title for possible review bombing or other suspicious voting activity.

I know IMDb uses a weighted rating system and does not publicly disclose how it works. I’m simply asking whether this voting pattern has been looked at, as it appears quite unusual.

Thank you for your time

Hello.

Fellow user here, while we await the answer from IMDb,

i would just like to point out that the "Unweighted mean" is 7.7

as seen here:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt33764258/ratings/

So the system has clearly not counted every of the low votes so something has been detected :-)

Hi!

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Our voting system already detects and defeats attempts to stuff the ballot and skew the rating, as demonstrated by the difference between the weighted average and the arithmetic mean on the vast majority of titles in the database.
