Question about Event Title update and events AKA

I recently submitted an event for an established film festival in my home town and it is now online : https://www.imdb.com/fr/event/ev0074440 I started to submit some awards updates (yesterday) that are not displayed yet. In the meantime, I wanted to update the event name to add its acronym (FEFFS) at the end : Festival européen du film fantastique de Strasbourg (FEFFS). But I did not figure out how to do it and I'm wondering if it's possible for contributors. If not, can you do it ? Moreover, when I returned on the All Events page, I noticed that the page is so long that I missed the fact that this event was already in the list with an English name : https://www.imdb.com/fr/event/ev0002467/2024/1/ This event has already partial awards data through the years. As this event is a French festival its original name is "Festival européen du film fantastique de Strasbourg". With the Events AKA feature can the english event page and awards be linked to the original name page ? Otherwise how will it work ? Thanks.

Hi Tonytheque- Thank you for posting the links and the information! Further reviewing, as we don't allow duplicated event pages, this newly created one has been removed. Therefore, as there is already a live page for this event (ev0002467) with awards data, you can add data to this page instead. Regarding the name, we have helped changed this event's name to its original one, added the acronym (FEFFS) and added the missing URL as well. The changes are already live on the site. Cheers!

Hi. Thanks your answer and action. Regarding the already existing award data, I have another question regarding the language best practices to adopt for submissions. As this festival title is in french like its awards names, I noticed that : - categories are written in english - some awards are written in english (Audience Award, Best International Animated Feature Film, ...) - other awards are written in French but miss accented characters Before sending new submissions or correction, I would like to know what's best to have my submissions accepted. Thanks.

@Tonytheque- You're welcome! The best way is to provide supporting evidence within your Award submissions. Specifically the pages pointing out where these awards are so that it can help our editors to verify the information. You can go ahead and submit the corrections/additions or deletions but it's always good to provide the evidence for the updates/changes.

@Maya, I'm back on this subject. I made a submission (250821-171142-003000) to start to fix the categories and award names that already exist for this event I attend to every year. I brought the links to the official site. For now, I have no update on my request and I don't know if it will be validated or not. I hope it will to fix the category and award names that is a real mess at this state (french and english, bad letter casing, ...) The new selection for this year event has been published and I want to submit the nominees in the different categories/awards. Without waiting for the fix of the award and category names I submitted a first batch of nominees. If this first submission is published, I'll go with the others.

@Tonytheque- Hi, I have checked this submission and re-submitted on your behalf, it has now been approved and the changes will be live shortly. You are welcome to continue submitting the rest once the changes are updated.

@Maya, one week later my submission seems to be rejected according to the Oldest Items date. Anyway, it would be nice to have an answer to the things I described accurately in my last post. Thanks.

@Tonytheque- You're welcome! To answer your first question, yes. So once you are on the last year page, you will select 'Edit page' and select 'Add win...' from there you can correct the Year field with the one that does not exist yet. Per your 'second question/submission,' we are reviewing it and once we have information, we'll post it below.

Hello. I completed the nominees list of this year upcoming event for the award category that requires the less modification (Octopus d'Or instead of Octopus d'or with correct letter casing). I'm ready to submit the nominees for other categories/awards, but before I wanted to check if you have the answer about award corrections. I made a series of submissions with only one title for the other categories/awards with the appropriate names (described previously in the thread) instead of existing ones. These submissions must have been refused since they are not published. If useful, the submissions ids are : - 250913-161232-334000 - 250913-161720-518000 - 250913-162651-994000 - 250913-163319-614000 Please let me know, as soon as you know, what is the better way : - submit nominees with existing awards/categories and then fix names once for all existing data (better solution if possible on your side) - submit nominees with new award names and categories and fix existing data individually later (already tried in the submissions listed above) Thanks !

@Tonytheque- Hi, Getting back to you on the Awards names, it is our preference for Awards to be listed as what they are commonly known as in English and as per our guidelines 'please use the award's common English name.' https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/other-submission-guides/awards-data/GWHKVGRUHHNLUXFV?ref_=helpsrall# Therefore, the award names will remain as we have them live. Please note as well that this part cannot be edited/corrected. You can add new awards under the text box of the Award section if the award is not listed on the drop-down menu but if they are repeated this will be considered duplicated. If you need to correct awards, you will need to send a deletion request and then send the correction/addition right after the other so that our staff can review the information of the awards being removed and the corrections/additions being added.

Thanks for this useful information. I choose a wrong direction and will have to correct the categories to use English name for consistency. Nonetheless, some of the existing awards are badly translated. From my previous list : - "Melies D'Argent" should be "Silvered Méliès" - "Stork d'Or" should be "Golden Stork" - "Octopus d'Or" should be "Golden Octopus" I hope that if I submit these fixed award names they will be accepted. Otherwise I think I'll give up fixing names... It's really annoying that we have no feedback on submissions. We have to check if it's online and if it's not, we have no explanation. Sure there are guidelines, but for rookies like me, it's not easy.

I started to update data for a local film festival in my town and award names are messed up. Some are in english, some are french but without accentuated letters some are a mix of English and French. In another post about this, I've been informed that the submission guide ask to add award names in english : https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/other-submission-guides/awards-data/GWHKVGRUHHNLUXFV?ref_=helpsrall#aw I checked on one of the biggest film festival (Cannes Film Festival - https://www.imdb.com/fr/event/ev0000147) to watch the award names. The main award of this festival is named Palme d'Or and has not been translated in English. So is it right ? For my local festival, I have three awards with that kind of name. Can you clarify the rule regarding translation of the award names. Should it be applied to all (that's not the case) or only for generic award names like Special Jury Prize or Audience Award ? Note: This comment was created from a merged conversation Link : https://community-imdb.sprinklr.com/conversations/data-issues-policy-discussions/question-about-award-names-in-foreign-languages/68d28c1a71957a4bdec72834 Title : Question about award names in foreign languages

@Tonytheque- Our preference is that only on specific ones can remain on the original language. Yes, some big festivals like Cannnes have those awards listed in French but they are specific like the Palme d'Or or Un Certain Regard, for example, but the rest are in English.

It's clear. I give up adding new categories and awards. I'll try to switch my validated submissions to the categories that were the most used before I start. The presence of the nominees and winners is more important than the strict award and categories names. Nonetheless, they must be homogeneous through the years. But if it goes more smoothly doing like that, I'll make submissions to do that.

@Maya, I've made corrections to my previous submissions to use existing award names and categories and only a few have been published (those regarding nominees that were previously published). Other submissions are not visible and according to the Processing Times page, they must have been refused. Can you explain why they have not been published because I'm lost for these ones : - 250924-151910-053000 - 250924-152737-232000 - 250929-065042-458000
