Recognition of Michif as a Language

The recognition of Michif as an IMDb title language is a meaningful and historic step. It allows our series Shadow of the Rougarou to finally be accurately credited with the language that sparked this campaign, while opening the door for Métis creatives, past and future, to have their work and Indigenous language properly acknowledged on the IMDb platform. In the future, I hope to see the various Michif dialects also be represented.

I also want to extend my sincere gratitude to everyone who supported this petition over the years and shared their experiences, as well as to all those who continue to advocate for the recognition and teaching of Indigenous languages across Turtle Island.

A special thank you to Marco for your knowledge and support throughout this process. Your work in tracking language-recognition requests and bringing attention to the many languages left in uncertainty within the system has been invaluable.
