Rejected credits for actress with multiple roles in the movie Resurrection (2025)

Hello, I submitted contribution 251221-230708-097000 that updated the credits for the Chinese movie Resurrection (2025) directed by Bi Gan with photos of the end credits as support.  Most of the contributions were accepted but the updates to the roles for the actress Shu Qi, who has multiple credited roles in different chapters that make up the movie, was rejected without a clear explanation.  I have resubmitted the updated credits for her in contribution 251223-221330-172000 with the photo evidence again.  Specifically, the roles she is credited for are:

The Big Other (listed in the credits for the Visual Chapter cast); Mother (listed in the credits for the Consciousness Chapter cast) and Voiceover (Full Film) (listed at the end of the cast credits).

Would a data editor please review the contribution and approve the changes.  Thanks very much for your attention.

Hello peter_5759167

We have accepted the credit, now the Voice over credit is not to be added with the other credits, it goes separate from the others. The Voice over credit goes to additional crew.

Hi Fran,

Thank you for the follow up.  Would you mind explaining why Shu Qi's voiceover credit would go to the additional crew section rather than the main cast?  Looking the IMDB guidelines for additional crew, it states:

voice performers not in the cast section of on-screen end credits, and were not voice actors for dubbed versions, should be added to the Additional Crew.

This directive does not apply to Shu Qi's voiceover work in the movie because it is credited in the cast section of the on-screen end credits.  It is true that her voiceover credit is the final credit before the credit section for extras begins but I do not think that means the voiceover credit should be treated as separate from the cast credits.  Instead, the reason for its placement at the end of the cast credits section is because her voiceover occurs throughout the movie so it isn't placed within each separate chapter cast credits.  This explanation is supported by the "Full Film" description in parentheses after the voiceover credit - Voiceover (Full Film) - in the end credits.  I do not think this placement should be interpreted to mean her voiceover work is separate from the cast credits and therefore should go into the additional crew section.  Her voiceover work is part of the main cast and is credited as such.  Please reconsider moving her voiceover credit into the cast section.

You can re submit the credit for Voice Over in the cast section, make sure to add a separate credit, they do not go all together. You can post the re submission number in this thread also to take a look for you!

@Fran The submission form prevents me from submitting a separate credit for Shu Qi's voiceover work in the cast section - it says:

This credit has been rejected. You need to correct this credit before it will be accepted.

  • This person is already part of the cast.Rather than add them, please edit the existing credit. If a person performs more than one role, please edit those roles with '/'. e.g. Bob/The Milkman

I'm not sure how I can submit a separate credit for her voiceover as you suggested?

I have seen the question posed before how to credit an actor with multiple roles where one of those roles is voiceover without having the voice attribution apply to the other roles.  The last answer I saw was that the limitation of IMDB's crediting system doesn't allow it?

@peter_5759167  This has been fixed.  The trick in this case is not to use the “(voice)” attribute at all; it is unnecessary since “Voiceover” is self-explanatory.
