In Progress

repeated declines of Arabic series cast correction

the post is about a common problem with arabic series. please read the whole post.on 1st Episode of "Sabaya" series only 10 actors appeared. while 82 are added!! i have submited to delete some of them and my correction was declined! (some of them are not even a cast of the 1st season). the whole series (150 Episodes) needs corrections which takes a lot of time and effort. in every episode i have to delete at least 60 actors out of the 82!

#260904-112212-166000

the reason is "Unable to verify" while i gave the link of the episode!

i already explained this issue TWICE before

https://community-imdb.sprinklr.com/conversations/data-issues-policy-discussions/declined-deleting-of-cast/6a23ef42806d6310eb106923

https://community-imdb.sprinklr.com/conversations/data-issues-policy-discussions/declined-for-2nd-time/6a73c44cf8831f4aab2a2f92

we need to have a conversation about this.

it is not logical that someone add 82 actors to 150 episodes and that you accept it without verifying. that's a huge number of cast to appear in one episode. it doesn't make sense!

it is not logical that every time this happens i have to post here.

Are edits of arabic series checked by arab editors?

if you are not arab you can't verify because you don't know the actors, and you can't read to check the names. Please don’t make me post again here about this issue. We need to have a permanent solution.

Look, I checked your previous links, and in them, you state that the majority of Arabic series uses the same credits for the opening and the ending.

If the actors from all episodes are credited in every episode, they should be added to IMDb, even if they don't appear on screen. Those who don't appear should be given the "credit only" attribute.

If they aren't credited at all, like in the "Samer Al-Masri" case you mentioned, a screengrab of the full credits, as suggested in the other two posts, would likely speed up the verification process.

is it fair that adding doesn't need screengrab but deleting is? someone messed up 150 episodes and i need to fix it ?

but Alright i'll use screengrab from now on. thank you.

@Mosho_nz ... Can you provide a little clarity so the best way forward can be found?

In one of the posts that you linked, you yourself stated, "The vast majority of Arabic tv series have the same opening and End credits for all episodes". If that is the case, as per IMDb's strict 'as credited on screen' policy, having the full cast listed on all episodes of a show is actually correct database procedure. If an individual did not physically appear in a specific episode but is listed in that master roll, the correct action is adding the (credit only) attribute as DuraNext advised - not deleting the credit.

The 150-episode show you are referring to: is it one of the series that uses a uniform master credit roll?

  • If yes: Demanding the deletion of a name that appears in the onscreen credit roll is incorrect and corrupts the archival record.

  • If no: Someone likely populated those episodes using the 'migrate credits from previous episode' feature. In those cases, the automated system has no way to independently verify if the migrated entries match that specific episode's credits. That is precisely why experienced contributors are needed to submit corrections backed by basic verification (like a screengrab).

If you can share the specific show details, with a little less snark, the community can help you work out the proper way to handle it.

uniform master credit roll is used for 1 season only and will change in every season. "Sabaya" series has 5 seasons. many actors appeared in only one but added to all 5.

The first episode has 20 credits and has 10 or so appearances. but 82 are credited!

there is not a single season where 82 are credited. so 62 actors need be deleted for the 1st episode alone. now imagine how much time i need for that and then i have to do it 150 times!

The easiest solution is to delete all episodes’ credits, then I can add the cast for every episode one by one.

@Mosho_nz ... It seems the issue you keep running into is if you attempt to do a mass deletion of credits in one go then it's highly likely that the automated system will interpret that as "attempted vandalism" and decline the submission. Which is why you need to provide evidence like a screengrab for it to be authenticated.  The automated system has no way to know if what you are attempting to do is legitimate or not.

@Mosho_nz, you said you've "already explained this issue TWICE before".

It's worth keeping in mind that large-scale production databases like IMDb move deliberately for a reason. When users share feedback or explain systemic issues, those reports often do get tracked — but changes to core data pipelines require rigorous development and testing before ever hitting production. A policy shift or backend update won't happen overnight just because an issue is raised multiple times, but thoughtful feedback is usually how long-term system improvements get built.
