Self/Actor on Documentaries

Hello. I directed this film https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3495174 which is technically a documentary, but in which none of the actors are playing themselves. All the actors credited on the IMDB page are playing characters that are fictional. This issue had already been resolved previously, but ever since the film was credited again as a documentary, all the actors went back to the "self" list on their respective pages.
Ideally, the film would be classified as both sci-fi and documentary and would appear on each actor's page under "Actor" rather than "Self". The same would apply to this other film https://www.imdb.com/title/tt30794664, which is the exact same situation.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hi @carlos_conceicao,

Thank you for your problem report.

Please refer to our Help guide which details how to move these credits from the "Self" section of their filmographies:

You can prevent this by adding the "reenactment" keyword to a title via the Edit page button found at the bottom of the titles page on IMDb. Once approved, any credits for that title should move into the correct section.

I hope this helps!

@Ozzy Thank you! It is a possibility, but it's not accurate. There are not reenactments in the film. There is an entirely fictional story-line framing a documentary structure which includes archive footage, historical details etc.

Hi @carlos_conceicao -

Based on your description, this film does not sound like it should be categorized with the genre "Documentary", as per our guidelines, a Documentary is described as:

Should contain numerous consecutive scenes of real personages and not characters portrayed by actors. This does not include fake or spoof documentaries, which should instead have the fake-documentary keyword. A documentary that includes actors re-creating events should include the keyword "reenactment" so that those actors are not treated as "Himself." This genre should also be applied to all instances of stand-up comedy and concert performances.

In removing the Documentary genre, the character credits will automatically be removed from the "Self" section.

I hope this helps!
