Serial non-useful voter on my back … again

Hi, In less than half an hour, my 20 (or so) most recently submitted user-comments were all marked with non-useful votes. This clearly isn’t based on the content but done by someone deliberately (who doesn’t like me a lot…) Can you please cancel those votes? Manu thanks

Hi Maya (or colleague) Can you please help me with this? Again my 40-50 most recent user comments were voted non-useful one by one and chronologically. He/she voted negatively all the way to where he/she stopped mid-April Hope you can correct this, as It is really discouraging. Many thanks

Hi Maya. Thanks, I really hope this can be resolved because it’s discouraging me to a point I am considering to quit even though I have 5.500+ reviews and writing them is pretty much my only hobby. It sometimes takes up to 3 hours to write a user-comment, so it’s frustrating to see someone bash it with one click and without even reading. I also noticed he/she went through my “most helpful” comments 😔 comments with perfect scores up tot 25 out of 25 useful are suddenly not perfect anymore. Please, please help 🙏🙏🙏

Hi. Do you please have an update on the reference tickets #V1809770949 (or #V1744716630)? Can’t tell you how much I would appreciate it if the non-useful votes get annulled or the person who does this gets stopped. Thanks Coventry

@Coventry- Hi, We’ve completed our investigation into the helpful/unhelpful voting on the User Reviews you reported and can confirm that no policy violations or observations of abuse were detected.

Hello. Are you serious? 70 reviews that are chronologically and systematically being downgraded and there is not a pattern? And I suppose you can’t prevent this from happening again? I might as well just quit writing then after 5.600 comments 😢

Hi Maya, Regarding V#1809770949 After 1 month of not submitting any user-comments, I submitted 18 comments that I saved up at once. Less than 2 hours later, ALL of these are already marked as non-useful. That is not normal, is it? Is this not abuse? Can you please track which user hates me so much and undo his/her bullying? Please…

Dear Maya, why can’t you help a loyal reviewer with 23 years of membership?

Hi Maya (or colleague), Regarding V#1809770949 After 1 month of not submitting any user-comments, I submitted 18 comments that I saved up at once. Less than 2 hours later, ALL of these are already marked as non-useful. That is not normal, is it? Is this not abuse? Can you please track which user hates me so much and undo his/her bullying? Please… This is my URL: https://www.imdb.com/user/ur2020269/reviews PS: I’m reposting this from a closed off conversation (https://community-imdb.sprinklr.com/conversations/data-issues-policy-discussions/serial-nonuseful-voter-on-my-back-again/680017646bafae19d4411129) because it’s marked as “solved” but it honestly isn’t. I would also like to plea for an alternative system! Can IMDb not get rid of the “thumbs down” possibility? Why not just offer the option for people to “like” via a thumbs up? It’s practically never – in my experience – that someone clicks “not useful” because of the content, they only dislike reviews because they don’t agree with the rating or because they hold a personal grudge against the author. Restricting to a thumbs up will allow people to show appreciation, but at least it is not possible to publicly downgrade authors’ work and push it back in the full list of user-comments. Can’t speak for other reviewers, but I spent 2-3 hours writing a comment. If others don’t like it or disagree, that is fine, but this shouldn’t be a reason to degrade it with one simple one-second click. I hope the community is open for this alternative, or any other change in measuring method, because I’m a contributor/reviewer since 2003 and currently deeply discouraged to continue with the sole hobby I have. Well, you obviously don’t care about this and I think it’s a shame. User/contibutors like me, but also others, who have been writing devotedly for more than 20 years are being ignored, while pathetic voters who probably never contributed anything can do whatever they want with one click. It’s very disappointing

Hello, I know I’m going on about this, but user-comments always were a passion. I just submitted a new comment after another week (for Beast - 2022) but sadly predict it’ll be marked as non-useful in less than 48 hours 🫩

Well, as predicted… all the recent submissions even have 2 negative votes instead of one. Please do something about this 😖

Hi, ticket #V1809770948 is NOT resolved. Whenever I submit a comment, or several at once, they are systematically downgraded as non-useful within 24h. This goes on for months now, please don’t tell me this troll-behavior of one person again another is acceptable to you here on this website? Instead of merging, why don’t you solve it? Or at least give me an answer?

Bizarre that you can only “like” the posts here … and not dislike them. Why don’t you apply the same principle for user comments?

I have always loved IMDb but this is so incredibly disppointing.

Well, it has happened again. For over a month, I didn't post any user comments because I was being chased by a troll who downgrades all my writing work as "not helpful" without reading them. But because this is my greatest passion, I kept writing and posted all the reviews at once. A few days later, everything was again assessed negatively. That makes a total of more than 175 reviews that are unjustly spat on by one and the same troll. This has happened in the past, but this troll is persistent. I also notice that several other loyal and prolific reviewers besides me suffer from this. Why do you allow this? Mrs. @Michelle or Mr. @Col_Needham? When I try to report this, I once got the answer that "no policy violations or observations of abuse were detected". After that, all my questions were ignored and merged under an old post that was already marked as "accepted solution". Why do you allow the work of loyal users, who have been contributing to IMDb for decades, to be belittled? Why do you allow a frustrated troll to smear the work of passionate users with one simple click on a thumbs down? Here on the contributors forum it is not possible to click a thumbs down. You can only give the thumbs up. Why don't you apply the same for the user comments? I hope for an answer (and a correction or solution) but my faith is gradually disappearing. Please adjust this system. Only keeps the thumbs up for user-comments, trivia aspects, etc. This only leads to the abuse of trolls who do nothing themselves but take pleasure in insulting the work of others. Please help! Right… just merge it without ever considering to help or resolve. IMDb turned into such a sad place
