Title: Hungarian characters ő, Ő, ű and Ű still not supported in original titles – known issue since 2021
Hello IMDb Team,
I would like to bring renewed attention to a longstanding issue with IMDb's title submission system.
When submitting original Hungarian titles containing the characters ő, Ő, ű or Ű, the system rejects them with an error message such as:
"The Unicode character\s U+0151 [ő] not supported."
These characters are generally accepted in alternative titles (AKAs), but not in original title submissions.
All four characters are essential letters of the Hungarian alphabet. Their omission or replacement results in incorrect spelling and can sometimes change the meaning of words.
This exact issue was reported in June 2021, and an IMDb representative acknowledged that the technical team was already aware of the limitation:
Unfortunately, that discussion is now closed, and the issue remains unresolved more than five years later.
I have been an active IMDb contributor since July 2018. I recently contacted IMDb Support directly about this problem, but was advised to submit my suggestion through the IMDb User Community.
I would therefore appreciate an official update on the following questions:

Is this limitation still recognized as a known technical issue?

Is there an existing internal bug report or development ticket concerning it?

Are there any plans to enable full support for ő, Ő, ű and Ű in original titles, including film, television series and episode titles?
I believe this should be treated as a data accuracy and Unicode compatibility issue, rather than merely an optional feature request.
Accurate original titles are fundamental to an international film and television database, and Hungarian productions should be represented using the correct characters of their native language.
