That when your "Total contributions" says 10 000+,

you need to do 15 thousand extra contributions, before the number then changes to 25 thousand?

That only says: "Shows total contributions across all categories."

Which is not really correct, it does not show total contributions when it takes 15 thousand edits to update?

And how did you get around the box checking the rest of us have to do, particularly when I'm adding credit numbers to credit list that didn't already have credit numbers? Not to mention manually checking which actor is the right actor, (I) or (CXVIII)?

Quality is far better than quantity.

@EvanD71​ I am doing an entirely different kind of contribution, aided by scripts.  I am only doing things I would have done manually so the scripts just make things faster, and it is mostly fixing existing data vs. entering brand-new credits.  

@Col_Needham​ if you are dealing with the cast and crew info, any suggestions on how to attribute the correct person for for example episodes or titles? I have wanted to get into cast attributions for a long time, but haven't really gotten into the whole select correct person based on name automatically with better accuracy then myself.

Also, will give you a fight for the first place this month 😉

@Nomissimon10​ Ah, sorry no, on the advice there as this is not something I need to do. You might be able to make more informed selections via local access to the extended contributor data sets.

It will be interesting to see how the August rankings shake out :-) 

Maybe the rankings need separating out between bot/script users and those of us still tediously box ticking. Perhaps staff users also need to not count in the leaderboard.

2 million submissions a month is unachievable manually and quite deflating to the rest of us.

@EvanD71​ Just for extra background here ... I am not doing this as part of my regular day job at IMDb; this is a side hobby project in my own time.  The changes I am making are at a grand scale, however, all I am doing is replicating edits I would have previously manually made.  I am also using the front-end contribution interface so I am not doing anything that anyone else could not do, with one exception as covered in the next paragraph.  It is mostly data hygiene so I expect to have peaked last/this month and gradually reduce once the large scale clean-ups are completed.

The one thing I am doing which is not using the front-end contribition interface is exactly what you requested in https://community-imdb.sprinklr.com/conversations/data-issues-policy-discussions/tidying-up-the-database/6a492121c8a9ae047c92c779 -- specifically idea #1 which I was already doing ahead of your post.  Since I am not using the contribution interface, I do not receive contribution points for these name clean-ups.

My aims are both to improve the database quality and to improve my software development skills using modern coding techniques with AI assistance.

My post that you referenced didn’t get a reply (from anyone), so I just assumed it was another random post that goes nowhere. So it’s great to hear you are tidying things like that up (even if you were doing it before I posted). It’ll be great to have a tidier database. 

I’m now intrigued by what the criteria for the tidying up is, etc. But that might be for another post.
