Solved

Unable to remove erroneous release date from my film’s page

My film (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt17525818/?ref_=nm_ov_bio_lk) was released on 18 January 2025, and the release date was accurately entered on the page by myself.

Recently, an additional (incorrect) release date of “17 September 2023 (internet)” has been added to the page by someone unconnected to our film. (Someone’s idea of a joke, maybe,  but we know it wasn’t done by anyone on our staff.)

I have tried to have IMDB remove this date several times, and they keep declining to do so, claiming lack of proof that the September date is erroneous - despite the fact that I have provided actual proof of the release/world premiere date to them on more than one occasion.

The correct release date is 18 January 2025. The film premiered on this date at the Horror-on-Sea Festival as stated. As evidence, I supply a scan of 3 pages from the 2025 Horror-on-Sea Festival programme of events, which show film screening dates and times. As you can see, the pages clearly show that the film’s world premiere was at this festival on the 18th January 2025, at 8pm.

It is incredibly frustrating that IMDB will not remove the incorrect 17 September 2023 date from our page, despite us providing definite proof of the real release date. (We even sent them links to our film’s Facebook page on the real date of release as additional proof, but this was ignored too. I’d be happy to give you those links too, but hopefully the festival brochure evidence is enough.)

Could you PLEASE remove the incorrect September 2023 release date entry for us? It is over-riding the true date, making our film appear as if it was released in 2023, and it was not.

Thank you!

Hi Fran,

This is the most recent of my three submissions on this matter. I’m giving you this one as it includes the most proof that I provided to back up my request. 🙂

You're welcome, I appreciate the help! Is your second paragraph a general advance notice that you won't delete anything correct/factual, or is it your decision having looked at my case? Hopefully it's the former! :)
