Unmade and unreleased films having release dates

A while ago I noticed 'Riptide' ( https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5581688/ ) being on Val Kilmer's profile with a 2021 release year attached. As far as I know, this film never went beyond announcement and casting news, and I can't find any proof of this film having even been filmed much less released. I tried to remove the release date to subsequently change it's status to 'Production unknown', but IMDB wouldn't accept my reasoning. Was there any proof provided when the 2021 release date was added? Of course I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure this film has not been made (yet). While I'm posting about this, I thought I'd add this other odd case here. A film called 'The American Connection' ( https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6268324/ ), filmed in 2007, starring (among others) Faye Dunaway and David Carradine, this film has still not been released. It now has a 2021 date on IMDB, but I've not been able to find any proof of this release. From what I've been able to gather, the people behind 'The American Connection' were still trying to release it a few years ago, with supposedly even some new filming being done years after the fact, but it seems a release still has not happened as of yet. A while ago I tried to remove the release date, but again it was declined. Any thoughts on these two?
