Users are submitting incorrect dates for the Toronto International Film Festival

It appears that the TIFF website adjusts screening times based on a user’s local browser time zone, rather than consistently displaying them in Eastern Daylight Time (EDT), which is the time zone of Toronto, where the festival takes place. This is causing significant errors among users trying to accurately document premiere dates on IMDb. For instance, a film with a public screening on September 10 at 9:00 PM EDT may appear as September 11 for someone viewing the site from Europe or Asia. As a result, incorrect dates are being entered as the official premiere, especially by those unaware that the time zone adjustment is based on their browser. Given that TIFF screenings take place in Toronto and the festival also does not do online screenings anymore, all dates should be submitted in EDT. I have reached out to the festival about the issue but I am unsure what good it did. There are also instances of users are incorrectly submitting "Press & Industry" screenings as the premiere date. These are clearly marked in black on the TIFF website and do not count as public screenings. Here are just some of the films that have been affected by this which I know because my corrct submissions for them were rejected and incorrect dates were instead accepted ahead of mine. I am sure there are other films because I did not do submit for 100% of the films being screened at TIFF. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt32352280/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt32909454/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt37661864/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt37661902/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt37343128/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt31726535/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt33586629/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt35746682/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt32858127/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt27811632/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt35705184/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt32063220/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt15284556/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt33514451/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt12619462/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt32268992/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt32298285/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt27847051/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt29768334/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt31688586/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt37658798/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11214558/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14364480/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14142060/

@bordelet Thanks for reporting the issue. We have forwarded this to the appropriate team. Since this is a widespread issue across many titles at the festival, it will take a day or two to investigate what happened.

@bordelet Thanks again for the problem report. All of the narrative features and full-length documentaries have been reviewed and corrected now. We are still checking through the shorts and episodic titles but they will be complete soon.
