Votes and release date for unreleased Secrets of the Caribbean (1945)
Currently, Secrets of the Caribbean (1945) (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0155151/reference/) has 30 votes as well as a release date of December 1945 in the USA (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0155151/releaseinfo/). The trivia items for this title (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0155151/trivia/) suggests this title never aired. Other online sources come to the same conclusion: -https://archive.org/details/private-snafu-collection ("A Private Snafu cartoon named "Secrets of the Caribbean" was planned to be released in 1945 but was ultimately unreleased. It is said that the master for the cartoon was given to the United States Army, but it remains lost media to this day.") -https://cartoonresearch.com/index.php/private-snafu-in-mop-up/ ("On the subject of absent Snafu shorts, the Margaret Herrick Library does not hold any materials for Secrets of the Caribbean, an unreleased Snafu directed by Chuck Jones.") I also found a book that says the samen: -"Doing Their Bit: Wartime American Animated Short Films, 1939–1945, 2d Ed." (written by Michael S. Shull and David E. Wilt in 2014) states on page 202 "...Secrets of the Caribbean ( 1945, not released) Director: Chuck Jones This episode was made in 1945 at a cost of $ 9,000 , but for reasons unknown it was shelved and never released." (https://www.google.nl/search?q=secrets+of+the+caribbean+snafu&sca_esv=0f9b108d57af51d0&hl=nl&udm=36&sxsrf=AE3TifMWYCNh7hRvmvMLYLlzWja-YAtDGw%3A1756849958807&ei=Jme3aPeHMdvRi-gPq9D1oQU&ved=0ahUKEwj3st-NiLuPAxXb6AIHHStoPVQQ4dUDCBA&uact=5&oq=secrets+of+the+caribbean+snafu&gs_lp=Eg1nd3Mtd2l6LWJvb2tzIh5zZWNyZXRzIG9mIHRoZSBjYXJpYmJlYW4gc25hZnVIlhxQ2gRY_hpwB3gAkAEAmAFEoAGmBaoBAjEyuAEDyAEA-AEBmAIAoAIAmAMAiAYBkgcAoAfwCbIHALgHAMIHAMgHAA&sclient=gws-wiz-books) In all fairness I also found this site - which is currently offline - that states that the short IS available (albeit "extremely hard to find"), but it agrees with the other sources that it didn't air in 1945: -https://web.archive.org/web/20080512092007/http://looney.goldenagecartoons.com/miscelooneyous/snafu/ ("By 1945, 24 Snafu cartoons had been completed, with two unreleased (these being "Going Home" [...] and "Secrets of the Caribbean". [...] "Secrets of the Caribbean" is extremely hard to find (since the Army destroyed any unreleased training films they could get their hands on after World War II). Fortunately, the cartoon can be found at "The Library of Congress" and it is believed Warner Bros. has it in their archive.") Based on the above I think the release date should be deleted, the 30 votes should be deleted, voting for this title shouldn't be blocked from now on and the 30 voters should be checked for other suspicious votes. Or does someone have other information that I missed and/or did the contributor that added the release date provide evidence for it?
