What genre does Gravure and Softcore belong to?

I've been seeing for some time that films in the "Gravure" or "Softcore" genre like Playboy strip shows don't have a clear genre. I know it wouldn't be "Adult" as such because there are no Hardcore elements or sexual activity, but I also don't know if it would fall into, for example, Documentary, Reality or even Romance, so I would like to know, if I had to classify it into one, which one it would be.

PJ: Some of those titles don't fit into any of IMDb's current genres. Fifteen years ago, the IMDb staff approved five new genres, one of which was Erotica, which these titles would have fit into. (The other genres approved at the same time were Awards Show, Experimental, Lifestyle, and Soap Opera.) Unfortunately, implementing the new genres turned out to be more difficult than I would have expected, and it turned out that a lot of behind-the-scenes programming had to be done before it would be practical to add the new genres. Eventually, in 2024, Col Needham announced that the five new genres never were going to be implemented because "Interests" were being implemented instead. See https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/titles/interests/G4Q8HQTQJ6YZ7H7B# for the list of interests. In summary, if the title doesn't clearly fit into an established genre, just don't list any genre for the title at all.

Even though I think the Interests are not at all a bad idea, I still feel it would be better if more genres were added. It's a pity for a database of films and tv shows having to have quite some titles without a genre. Oh, well...

I would mention that the erotica keyword can be added if it isn't already listed.

Yes, I read that they were going to include that genre but I didn't know that was 15 years ago, it must be complicated to add more genres then, I wonder why if in the future for example I want to add a show in which there is simply a striptease, without anything beyond full nudity, I don't know if I should put it in "Adult" although honestly it doesn't exceed what is usually seen in more conventional works, so I don't know if this would go to "Documentary", "Romance" or "Reality", while it is decided once and for all whether "Erotica" is included or not as a genre.

PJ: Until and unless "Erotica" is included as a genre -- and as far as I know, it is not planned to be included at all -- then you will probably want to leave the genre off certain titles altogether. That is, if a show consists primarily of people taking their clothes off and posing in the nude, but without performing any actual sex acts, it should not go in the "Adult" genre. If the same show is basically scripted entertainment with no documentary or reality-tv elements, it should not go in the "Documentary" or "Reality-TV" genres. And if there is no significant romantic element in the show, then it should not go in the "Romance" genre. I am just going to re-emphasize: *Certain titles don't fit into any of the existing IMDb genres, so they should not have any of those genres assigned.*
