What is the process for contributing information to a celeb's page?

Contribution Confirmation #250113-030335-370000

I was looking at Alison Becker's page. https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1477070/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_1_nm_7_in_0_q_alison%2520Becker

She was born in Allamuchy, New Jersey, USA!

The information on her family is ridiculously off base. It says her parents are José Agostinho Becker and Magali Lino de Souza Becker, and her brother is Muriel. However, those are the parents and brother of Alisson Becker, a Brazilian soccer player.

So my question is, is there anyone on the IMDB staff that does fact checking before information is published?

Who usually contributes information about celeb's families? Is it managers, agents, the celebs themselves? How does such a blatant error get made in the first place? Inquiring minds want to know.

I am not interested in contact details or other information about your users and contributors. Perhaps I was too vague about that. My question is: Can ANYONE contribute information? Do contributions ever get proofed or checked? I ask because there are so many errors, and since people aren't paid for their contributions, you get what you pay for. But how and why do all these errors and blatant misinformation get approved? That's what I want to know. The process seems very off the cuff, seat of your pants. I just think IMDB needs to run a tighter ship. Thank you.

@Blanche52 Hi-

Thank you for your feedback!

Yes, anyone can contribute information to IMDb. As stated in our following Help Guide

In addition to using as many sources as we can, our data goes through consistency checks to ensure it's as accurate and reliable as possible.

Given the sheer volume and the nature of the information we list, occasional mistakes are inevitable and, when spotted/reported, they are promptly verified and fixed.

This is why we welcome and encourage correction requests through our online Update forms from our users when spotting mistakes on the site.

Cheers!
