Hi bradley_kent, Out of the 38 submission references here, only 5 of them have been declined. Of those 5, I can confirm the following outcomes: 1. The Well (1951) - this title does not meet IMDb's definition of Film-Noir and its typical conventions, classified best as a crime drama 2. Take One False Step (1949) - Film-Noir genre added to title 3. The Seventh Victim (1943) - this title does not meet IMDb's definition of Film-Noir and its typical conventions, focusing more on Horror elements 4. The Green Glove (1952) - this title deviates IMDb's definition of Film-Noir and its typical conventions, focusing more on Mystery and Thriller elements 5. Thank you for the response. Glad to see that 24 out of 38 were accepted. The titles were culled from the Wikipedia Film Noir list. One of the rejections that needs reconsideration: Riffraff (1947) This is listed as Film Noir in the AFI catalog, and I recently saw it on TCM as part of Eddie Muller’s Noir Alley. (Perhaps it has been confused with the very different 1935 Tracy-Harlow film of the same name.) Here’s another title that should be Fllm Noir: 250604-125547-155000 Track Contribution 2025-06-04 12:55:47 Angela (1954) Genres - 1 item added It, too, is listed as such in the AFI catalog. It’s the only film directed by Film Noir stalwart Dennis O’Keefe. I have had your above noted contributions re-analyzed, and can confirm the Film-Noir genre has been added to the following titles: - Riffraff (1947) - Angela (1954) - Flame of the Islands (1955) - Istanbul (1957) However, the Film-Noir genre will not be added to the following titles, as they are not applicable per IMDb's guidelines, and do not feature the typical elements to definitively be labelled a Film-Noir. These titles are appropriately labelled with the genres currently listed on their respective IMDb pages. - Mister Cory (1957) - The Revolt of Mamie Stover (1956) - Pete Kelly's Blues (1955) Thank you for your understanding!

Thanks for the response. I think I understand. Now, I know IMDb is “vey satisfied” with its Film Noir definition, but it still seems life the final year should be 1959, with Odds Against Tomorrow as a signpost film. Guess those few 1959 titles will just have to be the beginning of neo-noir (Several recent books on Film Noir are now using 1959.)
