Solved

Why do I report aspect ratio errors, if no-one actually corrects them?

For the report below, someone's listed Until Dawn as 2.20:1, when it's actually 1.85:1. I used to be able to just simply write the proof as "I've seen this in the cinema", but decided to include this: "This is the correct aspect ratio. It was filmed that way and is how the film is released as confirmed on Blu-ray.com: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Until-Dawn-4K-Blu-ray/387385/" Your fact-checkers said "Your contribution has been declined. We have been unable to verify your contribution... ...Please include evidence, or provide a URL which contains supporting evidence within this field." I DID!!!! Why does this have to be so frustrating? Clearly, these fact-checkers aren't even checking the initial submissions, as they allowed the wrong one in the first place. Similarly, they allowed Another Simple Favor to be included as 2.35:1, but wouldn't change it to the factual 2.00:1. Eventually, they have, but I can't begin to imagine why they're allowing incorrect submissions in the first place. #250430-102033-188000

Hi, thanks for that. Do you know why it wasn't approved previously, and why they just blindly accepted the incorrect one from someone else, please?

@IAmSpartacus9999- It was a processing error which was already reported to the appropiate team.

Hi, can you do the same for this, please? The film switches between these aspect ratios during the film. I'm not sure what other proof I can give, other than stating I saw it happen in front of my eyes. 250519-110551-224000

Hi IAmSpartacus9999, Thank you for providing your submission reference for review. However, I can see that it was declined as we were unable to verify the information provided. In order for this information to be approved, we would need to have some form of evidence that supports the aspect ratio changes for this title. We would therefore ask you to re-submit with such evidence, so that our team can take another look at your submission. Thanks in advance!

What evidence do you want? I've been able to simply state that I've seen the film, previously, and obviously, I can't film it while I'm in there. Plus, clearly, you haven't asked for evidence in the first case with the ratio that's listed there.

Hi IAmSpartacus9999, Supporting evidence could include articles, verifiable social media posts, or press releases confirming the technical specifications of the title, such as changing or multiple aspect ratios. The aspect ratio listed on the site is a standard aspect ratio for modern cinemas, which is likely why it was approved in the first place. Thanks!

Even though with Until Dawn, I've been able to simply state that I've seen the film, previously, and obviously, I can't film Hurry Up Tomorrow while I'm in there? Do answer this, please. Plus, you're saying you just approve 2.39:1, as a random 'standard aspect ratio'(!)

Hi IAmSpartacus9999, We know you can't record the film whilst in the cinema, and wouldn't ask you to do that to provide evidence. However, many titles that have changing or multiple aspect ratios will have marketed such a technical detail or have had some news written about it. As mentioned above, this is the sort of evidence we'd require in this circumstance. In regards to your further comment, yes 2:39:1 is a contemporary standard aspect ratio in cinemas globally. I hope this helps!

Well, now you HAVE included the information for "Hurry Up Tomorrow", so it looks like someone saw sense at last! The fact is that the film studios DO NOT make this information readily available. The trailer is just cropped to 2.39:1 all the way through, which makes it confusing. However, no-one is going to be nerdy enough to go through the process of submitting aspect ratio information that is WRONG! Give us some credit, please!
