Solved

Why in the world did IMDb decline my very slight revision to the wording of a review?

Here's the "Before": Maybe more accurate than "Anthropoid," but nowhere near as gripping. And nowhere near as grim. Yes, "Operation Daybreak" ends unhappily, heartbreakingly... But it doesn't dwell, as "Anthropoid" does, on the devastating aftermath of the assassination. Nor is it as involving. Anthony Andrews plays Jozef Gabcik, the lead assassin, like a callow, jaunty English schoolboy, complete with English accent. He's hard to like. Several reviews here make an impassioned case as to why the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich was so necessary -- arguing that if he'd lived, a million more Jews might have perished, etc. It's possible there's truth to this speculation, but I'm skeptical. In fact, decades of reading about the war have convinced me that most acts of resistance and sabotage -- while courageous, heroic, and often self-sacrificing -- were just plain counterproductive. Though perhaps, as in this case, a brutal Nazi official was eliminated, or a locomotive might be blown up or a warehouse set on fire, ultimately they'd provoke reprisals, and scores of innocent civilians would be sent to slave-labor camps or executed. In no way do I mean to dishonor brave men such as Gabcik and fellow conspirator Jan Kubis, but the scheme they were recruited to carry out was, in a word, harebrained. The cost exacted for these acts of resistance -- indeed, for almost ALL such celebrated acts of resistance -- simply wasn't worth it. Not only did Gabcik and Kubis lose their lives, but so did hundreds of their fellow Czechs, men, women, and children. Not worth it.
