Why was this review declined?
To whom it may concern: For reasons I do not understand, the following review was declined. I have over 430 reviews. They usually are approved quickly. When they are not, I often end up writing letters like this to determine what I might have missed or done incorrectly. I reread the review. Can someone please explain what is wrong with the review? Thank you. _________________ #250717-020923-714621 The star of this short film (playing "Zander") displayed all the qualities a good or great actor should have. Everyone else in this film pales in comparison, although the girl who insists that Zander is now her boyfriend definitely shows spunk. Zander's father seemed incapable of giving his son a loving hug. He treated him the way fathers treated their sons in the '50s and '60s, with barely a touch. He kept calling him, "buddy" or "big guy" (the kid was 8-years-old; give me a break), but seemed pathologically incapable of loving him. The mother too seemed oblivious to the child's needs. I hated all of them, and I hurt for Zander, who has a crush on his teacher, Mr. Wiley, who I personally found creepy. He had to have some sort of "goodbye ceremony" with each child, doing some sort of bizarre sign language exchanges. All Zander wanted was a high-five, but the teacher apparently didn't get that at all. Also, he closed the door and kept one child behind in each scene that had "misbehaved." I don't know how it is now, but the fact that he closed that door troubled me. Zander wins his Oscar when he tells Mr. Wiley that he loves him, and tries to give him a gift of an antique watch that his mother had given his father. It was a powerful, powerful moment, and Mr. Wiley 100% failed to respond in a loving, supportive manner. When I was growing up, if a child was suffering emotionally, the teacher would hug the child. Now people would come out with guns and lawsuits and accuse the teacher of being a pedophile. It's a tragic comment on our society. There was way too much cutesy guitar music throughout the whole film and the only thing that holds this film together is Zachary Arthur. I can't wait to see what else he does. Everyone else faded into the background. All stars for Zachary Arthur
