Why will IMDB not correct incorrect credits?

Why will IMDB not correct incorrect credits?  Where somebody is claiming to be an SFX supervisor on a production they have never worked a day on, why will IMDB not remove their entry. It discredits the whole database if you cannot trust entries.

Hi @darrenwallissfx,

Thank you for your problem report.

Please could you provide an example of any attempt to correct this data? We can then look into this for you. You can find such submissions in your Contribution History.

Cheers!

Example - I was the SFX Supervisor on Lazarus, however a Danny Hargreaves's has claimed to be the SFX Supervisor on this (and he done this previously).  On 02/12/24 I tried to add myself as SFX Supervisor and on 08/12/24 I tried to remove Danny Hargreaves as SFX supervisor. Both contributions were declined, leaving the record incorrect for that production.  I can evidence my position in terms of unit list/call sheets and an email from the producer confirming Danny never did a day on the show.  How do I correct the situation?

Hi @darrenwallissfx,

Thank you for the additional information.

I have found your contribution history, and can see that your attempts to add yourself to the title with this credit was declined because it was submitted to the series parent page, and not the individual episode pages which you have worked/were credited on. This is our episodic credit policy, more information can be found in our guidelines. Please re-submit your credit(s) accordingly.

Furthermore, I can confirm you had not made an attempt to remove the reported incorrect credit. This needs to be done via a correct/delete submission, and not just by way of an explanation in your credit addition submission.

In order for our team to add your credit(s) and remove any that are incorrect for this title, sufficient evidence must be provided in order to verify this information. As the series is unreleased, a call sheet would be suitable evidence for your credit addition. Please see our Help article for more information on providing evidence for credit additions/deletions.

I hope this helps!
