Solved

Yet *another* date of death that has been declined "unable to verify" when I have cited an obituary

Submission 251126-091635-721000 has been declined with reason "unable to verify".The text of the submission is

Date of DeathEdit

Before
November 2025 (prostate cancer)
After
14 November 2025 (prostate cancer)
Your Comment
https://www.theguardian.com/books/2025/nov/24/ian-marchant-obituary "died aged 67 from prostate cancer" and "Ian Peter Marchant, writer, performer, teacher and broadcaster, born 14 March 1958; died 14 November 2025"I have confirmed that the URL given above still works (ie it's not behind a paywall) and have quoted the exact supporting text from the obituary. What more can I do?I would appreciate an explanation of why date of birth/death entries are still being declined (whether "unable to verify" or any other reason) even though they have supporting URLs and the exact supporting text is quoted. It's not enough to say "it was a processing error - I've resubmitted it for you": the problem should not be happening in the first place , requiring manual intervention. There is a bug in your submission process which needs to be investigated.

Ah, that old story again. "A processing error". ;-)Thanks for checking and re-submitting.Is there a systematic error which is causing all these "processing errors" that require manual intervention as you have done for this submission?

There is nothing wrong with your account that would prevent data from being approved, we handle data on a case-by-case basis, also because of the amount of data our editors process every day processing errors can happen.

Cheers!
