YouTubers
Many YouTubers are credited using a nickname or pseudonym on their channel, rather than their real names - a couple of high-profile examples include Seán McLoughlin (jackscepticeye, https://www.imdb.com/name/nm7681921/) and Daniel Middleton (DanTDM, https://www.imdb.com/name/nm7637737/). Something that I find endlessly frustrating is the way in which some contributors insist on treating this as an acting role, even when the YouTuber in question is clearly just using an alternate name but otherwise being themselves; perhaps a slightly exaggerated version of themselves for the camera, sure, but no more than any other non-fiction piece to camera, like a documentary presenter or a game show host. (Example: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14436874/) Obviously the correct way to deal with this would be "Self (as XXX)", but there seems to be a widespread tendency here to submit the alternate name as a character name. I usually overlook this when it comes to IMDb pages for their own internet content, but when that person appears on television, actually being themselves and interviewed like any other guest, and just happen to be credited under their pseudonym (because that's how everyone knows them), people actually go out of their way to change the credits, turn it into an acting role, and even go so far as to add the "reenactment" keyword to override the documentary or non-fiction ones! I really haven't the time or energy to start an edit war over this, but I have recently corrected a small handful of the most egregious ones for one person, i.e. the ones that have been broadcast on national TV; they are all credits that were previously listed as "Self" (some of which I added myself, years ago), but someone has since gone through and changed them, so I have changed them back. Please could steps be taken to prevent these submissions from being reverted? Many thanks. 250703-083757-481000 250703-083918-430000 250703-084242-280000 250703-085932-673000 250703-090252-405000
