Help Finding a 90s Corporate Thriller with Unique Ending
I'm desperately trying to locate a movie I watched on TV before 1997. I only caught the ending, but it made a lasting impression on me. Here are the specific details I remember:
Plot Details:
The protagonist becomes chairman of a company but falls into a series of conspiracies. People he trusted betray him, including a woman he thought he could trust. At one point, he hides at this woman's house, but she waits until he's asleep and brings back a hitman to kill him.
What makes this film unique is how the protagonist handles the situation:
He senses something wrong and hides behind curtains with a golf club
The hitman enters and shoots at the bed with a silenced gun (actually hitting a pillow decoy)
The protagonist manages to defeat the hitman with the golf club
After this incident, he turns the woman in to the police, but she is soon mysteriously silenced while in police custody.
The ending is particularly memorable:
The protagonist sells all his company shares
He specifically asks a director to return a symbolic coin that was transferred earlier
He contacts a female reporter who had wanted to interview him
On the way to the airport, he tells her everything that happened
Before boarding, the reporter asks one last question: "What do you most want to do now?"
The man smiles and answers: "Go home."
What I Know:
Watched before 1997 on television
Only saw the ending
Likely a corporate thriller/conspiracy film
Professional production, not a B-movie
The golf club behind curtains, silencer, pillow decoy, police station murder, symbolic coin, and airport "go home" ending are the most distinctive elements
This combination of plot elements seems incredibly unique, but I've been unable to identify the film despite extensive searching. Any help would be greatly appreciated! This has been driving me crazy for years.
Thank you in advance to anyone who can help solve this mystery!
