Help identifying US TV show from 1990’s-early 2000’s

I remember the main character being an older white man that drove a black convertible. Something along the lines of placing people with “new families” There was one really weird episode where a woman found out her sister was a robot that began malfunctioning during dinner. After that I remember the main guy driving the woman’s hiccuping robot sister, mother, and father off and saying he would find the woman a new family. Any ideas?
