Help me to find a black'n white movie

I saw a black'n white movie when i was a kid.It was about a man who started to see a beautiful woman, he tried to paint her everytime she appeared, in the end he managed to paint her and he realised is Death itself;another scene i remember is that his nephew visited his house, one day they visited a beautiful natural area, they were sitting at the edge of a cliff, he was shouting along with his nephew:Happiness,joy, come to me! The action could happen in Greece or Italy.For a lot of time i thought Anthony Quinn played in that movie, now i'm not sure of my memories. Thank you for your help!
