HOW can I view an Episode of The Hollywood Squares (Daytime)

I was a contestant on Hollywood Squares in 1972. I found the specific episode (per the date) but can not figure out IF or HOW I can View it. (Episode dated 28 August 1972 at [https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1313978/?ref_=ttfc_fc_tt ] ). I did complete the Free 'membership', and did review the 'Videos FAQ' : How do I view videos on IMDb? To view videos on IMDb, navigate to the title page where you’ll find Trailers, Interviews, Clips, Featurettes, and other original content that dive deeper into great movies and TV shows in the "Videos" section. -- but still seem to be missing something! Q: WHAT am I missing -or- is Viewing this NOT available ?? Thanks for any Help or Suggestions.

A vast majority of the movies, shows, episodes, programs, broadcasts, podcasts etc. respectively documented at distinct IMDb title entry URLs have empty video galleries, and the ones that do have some video gallery items typically only one trailer, maybe two, whereas more popular material will have not only trailers but also scene excerpts, interviews, featurettes or the like. Only a small few title video galleries contain the material in entirety to which the title page itself refers, and usually these are short movies, often no longer than ten minutes in running time. So, with that in mind, the important thing to understand is that IMDb thus far since its inception has not served as a streaming service for the material documented thereupon, and even going forward, it won't ever be in all cases, since IMDb tracks films that have been lost to time or for which the only remaining copy had been destroyed or misplaced.

@jeorj_euler Appreciate the detailed explanation and information for a new person. I'm 70, and this was 50 years ago! My grandkids would get a kick out of this. Is there any way for me to maybe contact someone and, for a small fee, have them search and find a copy? (just wondering!) Again, Thank You very much, Steve

I don't know, Steven Bonnell. I would recommend first searching through YouTube, at no monetary expense to yourself. In addition to inquiring on IMDb as you have already, you might consider also looking for a spot on Reddit or Quora to pose your question, or even 4chan. Also, please consider checking your local public libraries.

Thanks. I did the YouTube search before finding IMDb's listing of the show, and was honestly excited when they had the actual episodes by DATE and found mine! I will try your other suggested sources - Thanks.

Unfortunately, the episode may no longer exist. From what I've read, most of the episodes from that period were destroyed. Apparently it wasn't thought they had any re-run value.

@brian_bruns Unfortunately, that's true for the great majority of daytime TV before the late 1970s - game shows, talk shows, soap operas, morning shows. And once a show went off the air, the old episodes were generally deemed to have no value, and the tapes were reused. I think most of what's found on YouTube are recordings made by viewers of the time, not original broadcast copies. For perspective, consider the fact that the BBC broadcast of the first moon landing is believed lost because it wasn't thought to be of much interest, as everyone had already seen it live.

Steven: I think your best bet would be to search out message boards online that are specifically about game shows, and ask if there are any tape traders out there who might have your episode. It may be a longshot, though, because many game shows from that era are lost. Good luck!

Apparently "Game Show Network" aired 130 episodes from that era, especially from 1970s and they have "substantially more" episodes but didn't air due to "political correctness concerns" See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hollywood_Squares#Episode_status_and_reruns So I think contacting "Game Show Network" might be your best bet.
