I need help in finding a movie. I started watching this movie at the end on television. It is a sci-fi movie.

I started watching this movie at the end. It was being broadcast on television. It is a sci-fi movie. When I started watching the main character had to make the decision to enter a wormhole to save a lot of people. It was a one way trip as the wormhole was collapsing. He was able to communicate back home as long as the wormhole existed. Scientists back home were able to locate a habitable world for him. He landed in the ocean on this world and was attacked by giant sea creatures. He was able to swim to shore and survive. The movie ended with him watching a beautiful sunrise. I would really like to watch the entire movie. Any ideas on the name of this one?
