Looking for a 1980s spy/political thriller drama

Thanks for the input. But looking at the trailer, that’s not it. In the movie I’m referring to, there are scenes of political protests. And there’s a scene where the Mossad is trying to break a terrorist into talking by pretending to shoot his compatriot in the head.

@Britrick_c21​ I was able to watch this movie on Amazon Prime. It is an excellent movie. But I must be conflating it with another movie of the same time period. The one I’m thinking of has a lot of political demonstrations in the streets. And this may sound strange, but one thing that stands out in my mind is that the female lead in it has unusually dark red lips. I was doing a lot of “chemical usage” at the time. I wish I could remember more. But thanks again for the help finding The Soldier.

@JRD​ wow, those look so close, but I’m afraid they aren’t the one I’m looking for. I’m definitely going to look up the one with Nastassja Kinski, because she is one of my favorite actresses from that period. The movie I’m thinking of, to my recollection, had no big name actors. But thank you for the help. These bring back fond memories of 80s movies.
